Callahan loses? Nobody, but nobody, saw that coming

Before I go to far, I want to point out one thing: Both major parties are to blame for the abysmal turnout. I can't help but believe that the electorate is disgusted with the entire process.
But that is a topic for another day. Bangor Mayor Jon Brown has defied all odds, and defeated Bethlehem Mayor John Callahan. It looks like shades of 2009 all over again for Democrats.

And over here in Lehigh County, it looks like Tom Muller has in fact dispatched Scott Ott. It looks like Lehigh County Republican Party chair Wayne Woodman will have to wait another day to attain his goal of becoming our own local version of Bob Asher.
It also looks like Wes Barrett has sent Mike Schware back to the private sector. Two nice guys, but two different political bents.
So how does our County Commissioner's board look as of January 2013?

Three Democrats: Jones, Brace, and Barrett. Four Wing nuts: Ott, Scheller, Mazzioti and Creighton. And Two Republican moderates, Osborne and Dougherty.

Updated 1:18 AM:   It appears Mike Schware has retained his seat, at least unofficially, by 115 votes. Let the bitching about the Tea party begin. Voters have no one to blame but themselves.

  3. If I were omnipotent, and a Democrat, I would have a warm body run as a Republican in every local Allentown race. My sacrificial lambs would prompt complacent, lazy Democratic voters in the City to get off their arsses to vote for county-wide Democratic candidates. See, for example, the Donovan effect. How may of those Donovan voters (even if they knew they were only casting a "protest" vote) are to credit for Muller's slim win?

  5. Some comments don't deserve a response. 3 of the 4 above say more about the unidentified author than anything their "tweets" could infer.

  6. OOH. pull out the attack the family member card! Look RS, here's a couple of more big words, that go perfectly with your initials: RABIDLY SOCIOPATHIC. I know that last word is 5 syllables, but I'm trying to push you to better yourself.

I welcome comments from real people, not robots. (Though I admit that with some extremists who have been programmed, you can't tell)
